may affect your IRA program, documents, or procedures. Topics covered may include recent legislation, reporting guidance, and key pronouncements.
Session 3: Introduction to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) (12:45 – 2:00 pm ET)
Build a foundation of HSA knowledge with a thorough introduction to the world of HSAs, from the HSA’s beginning to the eligibility requirements, the contribution rules, and taking distributions. Course content includes an overview of the high-deductible health plan and HSA contribution limits.
Session 4: Financial Organization Mergers and Acquisitions (2:15 – 3:30 pm ET)
Understanding how IRA programs are affected by a financial organization merger or acquisition—and how to prepare—can save organizations from compliance failures, hefty IRS penalties, and potential lawsuits. We’ll share things to consider when going through a merger or acquisition, suggest best practices, and highlight the ways that Ascensus can help.
Session 5: Social Security and Retirement Plans (3:45 – 5:00 pm ET)
Where does Social Security fit with other retirement plans? How does it work? Social Security alone cannot be relied on to fund retirement. This course will give a current summary of Social Security and its rules before walking through the ins and outs of coordinating Social Security benefits with other retirement assets..

Session 8: Maximizing Your HSA Business Opportunities (10:45 – 12:00 pm ET)
Whether your organization is already in the HSA market or on the verge of entering, discover what it takes to run a successful HSA program. Learn why the HSA is a viable product, how to keep your HSA program in compliance, where opportunities may exist to grow your HSA business, and what HSA issues your organization may encounter.
Session 9: IRA & QRP Electronic Delivery and Reporting (1:00 – 2:15 pm ET)
Review the guidelines for electronic delivery of IRA and retirement plan forms, notices, statements, and disclosures. Learn more about available delivery options and the rules that must be followed. We’ll examine both the IRS and Department of Labor requirements for appropriate use of electronic delivery and proper reporting.
Session 10: Self-Directed IRAs and Alternative Investments(2:30 – 3:45 pm ET)
What makes an IRA self-directed? We’ll examine the concept, the process for establishing a self-directed IRA, and the types of alternative investments it may hold. Discussion of these topics will include obtaining a fair market value for alternative investments, the benefits of going self-directed, and what the cautions are.

Session 11: Medicare and the HSA Health Savings Account (8:00 – 9:15 am ET)
The rules of Medicare are complicated. But how they apply in coordination with HSAs can seem even more complicated. We’ll explain Medicare and its parts to provide a better understanding of how Medicare affects having an HSA, contributing to an HSA, and taking distributions from an HSA for medical expenses.
Session 12: Maintaining IRA Compliance (9:30 – 12:15 pm ET)
When it comes to IRA compliance, don’t neglect the big three: documents, withholding, and reporting. Find out how to consistently maintain compliance in each of these areas—and be ready for a potential IRS audit. We’ll share common IRA errors— and how much they can cost—along with ways to fix them.
